Statement of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission on the observation of Multi-party Democracy General Election Statement No. (13/ 2020)


1. The Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC), led by the Chairman, the Vice Chairman and the Commissioners observed the Multi-party Democracy General Election in seven Constituencies for three Hluttaws on 8 November 2020. The observation was conducted in compliance with the international norms applied by the National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) in other countries while observing their respective elections.

2. The MNHRC observed a total of 20 polling stations in seven Constituencies in Tatkon Township, Nay Pyi Taw (Union Territory) Tamwe Township, South Okkalapa Township, Htan Tabin Township, Hlaing Township, Kamayut Township and Twante Township all in Yangon Region.

3. The MNHRC will submit the report on the voting, counting the votes and compilation of voting results at the polling stations observed on the general election day to the relevant institutions.
