The Resource Centre has today around 300 books on human rights and related matters like refugee law, humanitarian law. Most of the books are in English but also in Myanmar. The books are of academic character and are meant for research, writing of reports, to get background and analyses and broaden the knowledge.
The Centre is located in the premises of the Commission and currently serves the primary purpose of making human rights reference materials available for the Commissioners and staff to refer to in their daily work.
The Resource Centre has been established tanks to support from the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights, Sweden with financial support from the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida).

Opening Statement was given by Chairman of Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, U Win Mra and opening remarks by David Holmertz, Senior Programme Manager/Policy Adviser, Sida and Rolf Ring, Deputy Director of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights. Invited to the launch were representatives from NGOs, media and Ministries. The speakers emphasised the importance of information technology as a tool for outreach and dissemination of information.
During the reception the web site was demonstrated by Lena Olsson, Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights.
The training workshop on the ICCPR, for the Myanmar Commission and government stakeholders, is the follow up to the first ICESCR training workshop held in May 2013. This workshop will touch upon the contents of the ICCPR convention, its history and its relevance to Myanmar.
The workshop is conducted by Brian Burdekin AO and Peter Hosking, both former high level national human rights institution practitioners.
At the invitation of the Chair of the South East Asia National Human Rights Institutions Forum (SEANF), Provedor for Human Rights and Justice of Timor-Leste, MNHRC members led by Chairman U Win Mra attended the 10th Annual Meeting of SEANF, held in Dili, Timor-Leste from 10 to 11 September 2013.
The meeting discussed the SEANF’s thematic issues, capacity building of SEANF member national institutions and matters of International Coordinating Committee for NHRIs (ICC) and Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (APF), among others.
At the invitation of the Chairperson of the Indonesia National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM), MNHRC members led by Chairman U Win Mra attended the SEANF Regional Workshop on Anti-torture and Detention, held in Bali, Indonesia on 8 September 2013.
At the Regional Workshop, SEANF members discussed the challenges and moving forward.
